The Story of the Red Wing Holiday Stroll

In 2001, a group of Red Wingers decided to host a small holiday-themed gathering in downtown.

Their dedication to the Red Wing Holiday Stroll was infectious, and this annual event continued to grow year after year, drawing thousands of visitors each year to downtown Red Wing. Each year, the event is lovingly planned by Red Wing Downtown Main Street with the help of several volunteers, local businesses and generous sponsors, without whom this event would not be possible. Our main goal is to create a festive and fun atmosphere for everyone to gather with a safe sense of community and make memories together. Our hope is that this event becomes part of your family’s holiday traditions and our downtown community continues to be a destination location not just throughout the holidays, but all year long.

“The Holiday Stroll is like a Hallmark movie come to life!” - Anna, Red Wing Resident

“It’s the best kick-off to the holiday season for my family. We love the lighted parade, and the stores are filled with holiday magic.” - Robert and Barbara, Red Wing Residents

“We make a tradition of going to Red Wing every year the day after Thanksgiving. It’s only about 50 minutes away for us from the Twin Cities and it’s like we step back in time. It helps us remember what the holidays are really about!” - Dan, St. Paul
